Payment declined or checkout error

If payment is declined or checkout stops with an error, first check whether any order or payment was recorded. That helps you avoid paying again when the first attempt’s result is still unclear.

Check before retrying

  1. Confirm the billing details match the payment method.
  2. Check whether your bank sent a verification request.
  3. Confirm all required checkout fields are complete.
  4. If the result is unclear, check whether a charge or authorization already appears before trying again.

Avoid rapid repeated attempts

Repeated attempts can create confusion when a bank is declining or holding authorizations. If the problem continues, contact your bank or Branch support with a description of the error. Do not send full card details.

Narrow down the problem before another attempt

  1. Write down the error message and the checkout step where it appeared.
  2. Check the confirmation screen, checkout email, and payment-provider transaction status.
  3. Review the order total and delivery details; check any payment-field error using the checkout service itself.
  4. If the payment provider is asking for verification, follow its normal secure process rather than sharing authentication codes with support.

Who can help with which part

Your bank or payment provider can explain a decline or verification requirement on its side. Branch can investigate the order, cart handoff, displayed total, or unclear checkout outcome. Tell support which part failed instead of sending only “payment does not work.”

Repeated attempts can leave multiple pending entries or create a second order. If you see a transaction but no clear confirmation, contact support before retrying. A screenshot of the error can help if you remove full card details, security codes, and authentication information. Branch does not publish a guaranteed fix time for payment-provider errors.
